CVC word family : -am

CVC word family : -am

This week we have been learning the “am” word family. Mei mei been asking for the word family activities and she’s loving it because it is not as monotonous as doing just worksheets or assessment books.

So here we start with the mini flash cards. We sound out the words and recognize those words that belong to the “am” word family. The purpose of CVC word family is the ability to blend simple three letter words (or up to 4 letters) is a big step in learning to read.

We did a puzzle activity by matching the first letter to the “am” word family to further practice her blending.

After learning to read, we learn to write. That’s also where we learn how to spell the words.

We don’t just stop here. I have also created some fun cut and paste worksheets where she has a valuable practice on her cutting and pasting skills while learning to spell at the same time. It was really fun for her as she is more of a hands-on learner and it kept her focused all the time.

To add more challenge to the learning, we had a fill in the missing letter worksheet where mei mei have to identify the missing letters of the alphabet and write them in the spaces provided.

Last but not least, a little game for her and that will be the word search. She loves word search and was super delighted to know that she got to do this before completing her learning for the day.
